Finally, OSHA Gets It: Fit Matters

Finally, OSHA Gets It: Fit Matters

You know how we’ve been screaming from rooftops (and rooftops under construction) that women deserve PPE that actually fits? Turns out OSHA has been listening… or at least finally caught up.

This year, OSHA proposed a long-overdue update to its PPE standards. For the first time, it’s not enough for employers to simply hand out “a vest” or “a harness” — the rule will clarify that PPE must fit the worker it’s issued to. Shocking, right? Common sense, but until now, it wasn’t spelled out.

Here’s what that means in real life:

  • No more swimming in XL safety vests when you’re a size small.

  • No more duct-taping gloves so they don’t slip off your hands.

  • No more trip hazards disguised as baggy pants that were designed for a 6’2” guy named Mike.

OSHA is basically telling companies: if you hire women (or anyone outside “standard male sizing”), you need to provide PPE that fits their body. Period.

At ARX, we’re over here like: Welcome to the party, OSHA. 🎉 We built our entire brand on the idea that safety isn’t one-size-fits-all, and women shouldn’t have to choose between looking professional, being safe, or feeling like themselves on the jobsite.

So yes, we’re thrilled to see standards catching up to reality. But honestly? We’re already ahead of the curve. Our Class 2 safety vest was designed from day one with women’s proportions in mind, and now we’re expanding into accessories and more gear because women deserve a one-stop shop for everything construction life throws at them.

The bottom line:

  • Employers, it’s time to update your procurement playbook.

  • Women, it’s time to demand better — because the law’s officially on your side.

  • And ARX? We’ll keep doing what we do best: making gear that fits you, not the other way around.

Safety is serious. The fit should be obvious.
